13th International Conference on the Scientific and Clinical Applications of Magnetic Carriers

Magnetic Carrier Meeting at University College London from June 14-17, 2022

The 13th International Conference on the Scientific and Clinical Applications of Magnetic Carriers took place in London, UK from June 14-17, 2022 and was like always a great week full of new magnetic particle results, discussions and applications. Everybody had a great time, especially during the boat ride.

To see who was at the meeting, check out this great photograph by Ron Goldfarb (if you click here, you can get a high-resolution version of the photograph):

Now that the 13th Magnetic Carrier meeting is over, you can check it out yourself, and get some details from our abstract booklet. Warning: This is a large file.

And we also put up here the first talk of the meeting by Urs Hafeli, who gave some introductions and discussed a few interesting papers that were published in the last 4 years (since the 2018 meeting).

Topics
Magnetic particles of nano- and micro-sized dimensions are an area of intense research. To bring together scientists from chemistry, physics, medicine, biology, engineering and materials sciences and discuss in a collaborative manner the applications in technology, preclinical research and diagnostic and therapeutic medicine, we organize a conference about this field every two year. In 2022, this conference will take place in London, UK at the world famous UCL and cover the following topics:

Scientific Applications:

  • Preparation and Modification of Magnetic Particles
  • Characterization of Magnetic Particles
  • Application in Cell Separation and Analysis
  • Applications in Molecular Biology
  • Magnetic Particle Imaging

Clinical Applications:

  • Cancer Treatment
  • Hyperthermia
  • Magnetic Resonance Contrast Enhancement
  • Drug Delivery

Nanotechnology Applications:

  • Micromechanical Systems (MEMS)
  • Magnetic nanotubes
  • Self-assembled magnetic nanosystems
Proceedings
After every "Magnetic Carrier Meeting", meeting participants will be able to publish peer reviewed articles in a special journal issue that contains the most-up-to date research in our area. The deadline for the submission of these full papers will be 6 weeks after the meeting on August 3, 2022. This time, we will be limited in number of articles that can be accepted. Furthermore, only one article can be accepted per lab.

Your original research will be published with the "Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials" (JMMM), as we did many times previously. This journal is well indexed and you can find your papers with search engines such as SciFinderGoogle Scholar and other indexing services. JMMM has an impact factor of IF = 3.097 (2022).

Once you have your paper ready for submission, please go to this link:

      https://www.editorialmanager.com/magma/default1.aspx

And find in the submission section our special issue by selecting the article type

      VSI: Magnetic Carriers 2022

The papers have a much faster turn-around as in previous years, as they become published as soon as accepted. The editor of this special issue will be Silvio Dutz, together with the co-editors Lucia Gutierrez and Maciej Zborowski.
