Fifteenth Meeting

The already 15th International Conference on the Scientific and Clinical Applications of Magnetic Carriers took place at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. It was again a wonderful meeting with 230 participants! Here you see most of them. The pictures can be downloaded at high resolution, just right click on them.

And in another view, we all look like this:

Topics
Magnetic particles of nano- and micro-sized dimensions are an area of intense research. To bring together scientists from chemistry, physics, medicine, biology, engineering and materials sciences and discuss in a collaborative manner the applications in technology, preclinical research and diagnostic and therapeutic medicine, we organize a conference about this field every two year. In 2026, this conference will take place in Paris, France and covers the following topics:

Scientific Applications:

  • Preparation and Modification of Magnetic Particles
  • Magnetic lipid nanoparticles and bubbles
  • Magnetic hydrogels
  • Characterization of Magnetic Particles
  • Application in Cell Separation and Analysis
  • Concentration of different types of cells in animals and plants
  • Applications in Molecular Biology
  • Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI)

Clinical Applications:

  • Cancer Treatment
  • Hyperthermia
  • Magnetic Resonance Contrast Enhancement
  • Drug Delivery
  • Targeted microrobots / soft robots
  • Phototherapy
  • Antimicrobial therapy

Nanotechnology Applications:

  • Micromechanical Systems (MEMS)
  • Magnetic nanotubes
  • Self-assembled magnetic nanosystems

Also, Xavier Batlle and Levy Van Leuven gave some excellent tutorials about the physics and chemistry of magnetic particles. Check them out in the "invited speakers" pages.

And if you would like to get more details from the "traditional" first talk of the meeting by Urs Hafeli about the new and exciting things that happened in the last 2 years in the field of magnetic particles, check it out here:

This year, we had more than 100 posters, and a team of reviewers led by Thompson Mefford determined the winners of the poster prizes. They are
